| This is the fray's hope section (hope is the thing with feathers). The sections hold links to the most recent three stories – the rest are on an archive page. The icon of the section you're in is lit up, jack-o-lantern style, and blown up and darker on the other side. This is all an attempt to tell the user where they are in a non-verbal, intuitive way.
When I was desgning the look of fray, I knew I wanted to use black for its mysterious feeling, but I needed a color to complement it. I chose purple because it's the default color for a followed link in Netscape. I wanted the fray to feel familiar – like someplace you've been before. |
